Batman: Return To Arkham - 8 Ways It Proves Remasters Are Totally Ridiculous
7. It Doesn't Even Include The Entire Trilogy
Say what you will about Arkham Origins, but you can’t deny that its omission from this collection makes very little sense.
Apart from offering fans a well-plotted prequel to satiate their appetite for an inevitable Rocksteady sequel to Arkham City, Origins produced a riveting character-driven tale that felt far more at home in a DC Animated Original Movie than it did in a videogame.
That isn’t to say that it felt out of place, rather, it is a testament to the quality of the tale that it managed to draw comparisons with DC’s finest animated efforts. The game may have been glitchy, yes, but to deny it its place in Arkham’s history altogether isn’t just ridiculous, it’s nigh-insulting. For what it’s worth I do understand the many grievances fans had with this game when it first released, but it was and still is my favourite Batman title ever.
If anything, its graphical imperfections alone justify its spot on the remake bandwagon, as chances are audiences would react more warmly to a polished prequel once marred by its minor errors. Honestly, how can anyone truly return to Arkham when not even the entire franchise is included?
Regardless, time will eventually vindicate Warner Bros. Montreal’s prequel, and even if it somehow doesn’t, their tenure with the Arkham franchise is by no means at an end.
