By the sounds of it, moving towards "tighter gameplay" doesn't simply mean DICE is reducing the player count and speeding up the combat, but also radically changing up their approach to map design. Moving away from the big arenas of BF1, the reference point for Bad Company 3's scale is allegedly that of the second game in the spin-off series, as well as Battlefield 3.

The maps mentioned specifically as influencing the upcoming sequel's design were 3's Grand Bazaar and Bad Company 2's Oasis, which were both chock full of choke points that facilitated past-paced infantry combat.

Hopefully the devs don't rely solely on these restrictive environments, as Battlefield is at its worst when it's simply trying to mimic Call of Duty's flow, but there's no denying that less running from place to place and more shootouts would undoubtedly benefit a game with a smaller player count.
