Battlefield V: 12 Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You
7. Recon Classes Are Essential For Spotting
In a bid to make gameplay more in-the-moment and not focused entirely on the U.I., DICE have all but removed the classic spotting mechanic in Battlefield V. In previous games you could tag enemy players with a marker, which would alert teammates to their position and even follow them behind cover (although this was nerfed over the course of 1's life cycle).
Now, however, most classes don't have the ability to tag an enemy in the same way. The spot button has been replaced with a general marker, that simply highlights the area where you saw an enemy but doesn't follow them at all. For diehard players this might be a bit jarring, but it does make you realise how much you were previously shooting at red blips, rather than actual enemy character models.
The feature hasn't been taken out entirely though, but instead bundled into the recon class. Hitting enemies with sniper rifles or using the spotting scope will still tag them in the classic way, and as long as they remain in your line of sight, they'll be visible to the rest of your team to finish off.
