Before Assassin’s Creed 3: 7 Moments That Defined The Franchise

7. It's Back...

So, basically, Assassin's Creed I was a disappointment. I could talk about repetitive missions, an underwhelming ending or many other things; but the main thing to take from the game is that it's potential was not met. Then, two years later, reviews of a certain sequel start to appear. After a very hectic start and some very surprising sequences, we end on a Florentine rooftop with two brothers looking over the Italian skyline - most notably the Duomo. They speak of the quality of their lives and how it should never change - oh it's going to change, alright. The camera pans, and the title appears. Instantly, the thoughts of this being another mediocre game evaporate, and are replaced by the anticipation of what will happen next. If any of you reading this have seen my Dark Knight Rises article, you will know that I'm a fan of original soundtracks. Now, the most important factor that makes this scene a classic is Jesper Kyd's music. It adds a unique renaissance sound, which is essential to the game's plot. Without the track, Assassin's Creed II would not be the same. Ultimately, neither would its introduction. This thirty second moment was Ubisoft's statement to the world. The wrongs had been righted. Lessons had been learnt. And, this time, it was perfect. You can watch the title introduction here, with thanks to 'D Suheyb' for the video.

Thanks for reading. If you believe there should be any more moments that should have been included, please leave a response in the comments. Please note, before grabbing the pitchforks and torches, that I have selected these seven as they defined the Assassin's Creed franchise, and have been chosen on their importance in changing how we perceive the series. Thanks.
