Before GTA V: 5 Reasons Why Vice City Is The Best In The Series

4. The Soundtrack

Now we come to what might have been the best thing ever about Vice City. The music. The radio stations have always set the mood, whither you're running over pedestrians, or simply cruising the streets, it's sometimes nice to just take in the many sounds of GTA's many radio stations. Never before or since though has the music in Grand Theft Auto been so perfect, with hit after glorious hit available. V Rock is still for me the pinnacle of in game music. As someone who wasn't that into music in my younger days, I can thank V Rock for introducing me to the bands I would hold dear later on down the road (I was 13 when Vice City was released). 2 Minutes to Midnight by Iron Maiden, Bark at the Moon from Ozzy, Cum On Feel The Noize by Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Megadeth. Classic metal at its finest. It was also hosted by everyone's favourite radio host Lazlow, of Chatterbox fame. That's not all, it turns out that most of the other stations were equally as good. Lets just rattle off a few names here. Foreigner, Toto, Michael Jackson, Kool and the Gang, Hall & Oates, Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, Grandmaster Flash, Blondie, Kim Wilde and Nena with her 99 red balloons. Need I say more? It cannot be topped. Ever.

Corey's been in love with games ever since he first met a bandicoot many moons ago. Since then he's discovered he'll play pretty much anything, except karaoke games. He spends his time writing, listening to classic rock and drinking perhaps a little too much Guinness. You can follow his Irish internet ramblings on his Twitter @Corey_Milne
