Bethesda's Starfield: Every Fact & Rumour So Far

7. Next-Generation

This has a little less to do with the actual game, but rather speaks volumes about the shape of gaming over the coming years. It is always dangerous territory to try and predict gaming release schedules, but it is safe to assume that following Fallout 76, Bethesda's biggest focus will be Starfield. And with Starfield being next-gen, that opens up room for massive speculation as to just how close we are to a new generation of consoles.

It seems unlikely that Bethesda would announce that Starfield as a next-gen title without the advent of a new generation being relatively close. There have been copious amounts of speculation as to how close we are to the turn of the generation, and Bethesda's announcement is the only real concrete evidence towards the fact that it is liable to be very soon. Perhaps even next year?

There is, of course, a massive debate surrounding whether or not a new console is necessary, especially considering the fact that Sony and Microsoft appear to be hitting their stride with the current generation. But with Bethesda supposedly pioneering next-generation launch titles, perhaps we should encourage the new generation.
