Bethesda's Unannounced 2017 Game: 5 Things It Could Be
2. Starfield
Rumors have circulated for months that Bethesda Game Studios is working on a science fiction RPG that is set in a futuristic space setting. Bethesda's trademark filings back this rumor up with a renewed application for "Starfield" appearing most recently. Bethesda's own Todd Howard has also spoken on his desire to make a science fiction game.
To pour more fuel on the speculation fire, Howard has confirmed that Bethesda has two new projects planned for release before a hypothetical Elder Scrolls 6.
Both of these titles have been described as familiar but also radically different from anything Bethesda's developing arm has worked on, lending credence to the theory that these two unannounced games are new IPs.
Starfield would fit the mold of Howard's comments. A space sci fi game would indeed be different from anything Bethesda have worked on, but as an RPG, would also feel familiar to the studio's prior work on Fallout and the Elder Scrolls.
However, Starfield would require a certain amount of time to market and get into retail stores, meaning if it is indeed Bethesda's unannounced 2017 game, it would have to be announced very, very soon if it was to be successful.
