2. Aiden
Aiden the ghost is probably the best thing in Beyond: Two Souls but that doesnt mean he is anything special. When prompted to do so, you take control of Aiden and fly around the room and through walls. If Jodie needs someones attention, Aiden will go and spill a conveniently placed cup of coffee over them. If Jodie comes across a locked door, Aiden will pass through it and unlock it. If Jodie is attacked, Aiden will strangle or possess the assailant to stop him. Taking control of Aiden is a welcome break from the mundane that is Jodie. At first, it is a lot of fun to knock over tables and smash glass but then you soon realise that you dont really have that much choice in what you do, the game is telling you what to do. Randomly, you will either be able to possess a bad guy or choke him to death. You will have certain objects you can interact with, depending on the scene. Just because you could throw a chair across the room in once scene, dont expect to be able to do it in the next. About a quarter of the way into the game, it soon dawns you that Aiden is as much of a cut scene enabler as you are. And most of the time, you play hunt the white dot so you can interact with it and start the next cut scene. The one interesting moment that Aiden has is quickly dropped and forgotten about. He becomes jealous that Jodie is forming a relationship with another man. He does his best to make their first date really awkward. But that is only explored in that scene and you soon return to the monotony that is pressing R1 when told to and pushing the controller stick towards doors. Totally wasted.
