Bioshock's 10 Best Moments
5. Walking On The Sea Floor - Bioshock 2
Bioshock did a phenomenal job of introducing Rapture and the mythology surrounding it, to the point that, when the game ends, I wasn't quite ready to leave. And so it is only fitting that Bioshock 2 has that unmistakeable feeling of revisiting a good friend. Yes, the experience is diluted somewhat, mainly down to the fact that this is not your first visit, so the Bioshock 2 team had to mix up the experience a little.
They decided to do this by allowing you access to the world outside of Rapture, the sea bed that it rests on. It is not a particularly jaw dropping moment when you compare it to some of the others but it does offer a glimpse into a different side of Rapture.
Rather than seeing the city crumbling from the inside, you are given the chance to see the surrounding architecture in greater detail and the sight of a Big Daddy lumbering around in a glass tube 100 feet above your head does a great job of immersing you fully in the world.
It's just a shame there wasn't a little more gameplay in this section but, as it is, it offers a nice respite from the chaos.
