Bioware Responds to Mass Effect 3 Ending & DLC Criticism

"I didn't want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating what the endings mean and what's going to happen next, and what situation are the characters left in."

Bioware has been taking a lot of heat ever since Mass Effect 3 launched its day one DLC, but now I would say the major issue most people have is with the endings of the game. I would say about 85 to 90% of people are disappointed with how Mass Effect 3 ends. There is even a petition online from Child's Play Charity called Retake Mass Effect that is signing people up and raising money for charity in hopes that Bioware will listen and provide a different ending to the title. At this time the Retake Mass Effect charity has raised over $35,000 in less than a week. So Bioware has finally responded to all the criticisms and through Casey Hudson made some official statements about the endings:

"I didn't want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people€“debating what the endings mean and what's going to happen next, and what situation are the characters left in. "That to me is part of what's exciting about this story. There has always been a little bit of mystery there and a little bit of interpretation, and it's a story that people can talk about after the fact."
Hudson then went on to talk about fan feedback and how the single player and multiplayer DLC will be shaped by fan feedback:
"We pay very close attention to it. It's very important to us and we will always listen to feedback, interpret it and try and do the right thing by our fans. We have some really great multiplayer content and some really great single-player content coming over the air, (fan) feedback will become part of how we design that."
Finally he went on to discuss the day one DLC:
"Initially, it was spun in a direction that suggested that we had taken the lore out of Mass Effect 3, Now the people who actually have played Mass Effect 3 and the DLC they know that that's not true."
I know a lot of people are pissed off about the Mass Effect 3 endings but if you read between the lines of what Hudson is saying there is hope that Bioware will give you new endings through DLC. Basically, Hudson says they base their DLC off fan feedback, so at this point I think they have enough feedback to know the only thing people want is a new ending to the game. Also I would recommend if you don't like the endings post thoughtful comments on the official Bioware message board or sign up for Child's Play Charity Retake Mass Effect over doing things like giving the game one star on Metacritic or Amazon.com. Bioware has in the past shown to listen to their fans about issues in their games; for instance people wanted more Liara in Mass Effect 2 so they created the Shadow Broker DLC which was some of the best DLC I have ever played. So that is why I say be constructive with your criticisms and there is a chance that Bioware will listen and maybe give out a new ending to the game.
