Visually, Warfighter is an absolutely gorgeous game, and probably the best looking military shooter since Battlefield 3 wowed us last year. The texture quality, the motion blur effects and animations as you move, and the environments in general really do help capture the manic chaos of war. It is easily the best looking game this year so far, though it's just a shame that the same effort and ingenuity wasn't put into the rest of the game... The Call of Duty games have always been a bit of a let-down as far as their visual presentation goes, and Black Ops 2 is not a whole lot different; walking up close to text that's printed on vehicles or posters proves a painful, eye-watering experience. Treyarch have clearly sacrificed resolution and texture quality, presumably to ensure that their chaotic multiplayer offering can handle the load. Still, while the artistic style is itself quite accomplished, it visually falls far behind the pack, and we really can't wait until this series moves onto the next-generation, where hopefully it won't feel quite so dated. Finally, we have a point for Warfighter! 4-1 it is...
