Call Of Duty: Ghosts - 4 Reasons Why The Franchise Is Over

4. The Story Problems

Cod 4

To say the Call of Duty craze is over really depends on how you play COD, to a certain extent. If you play Call of Duty for the story arc, then one hundred percent it€™s over.

Call of Duty 4 showcased a campaign that was imaginative, exhilarating and not traipsing round Normandy circa 1944. The problem was, Call of Duty 4 felt like its own standalone game, not the beginning of a three part saga, therefore, when Call of Duty 4 smashed the market as the iceberg did the Titanic, Infinity Ward probably had no idea what to do with themselves.

With each next instalment the story became more convoluted than a Doctor Who episode played backwards. Trying to distribute a plot that was only made for one game is like trying to share a relatively small honey pot with two massive brown bears. You€™re going to get your face torn off and the bears are going to go hungry.

Although Call of Duty: Ghosts has started its own three part storyline, it suffers €“ and will suffer €“ from the same issues that plagued Modern Warfare, only this time gamers have wised up to the fact that Call of Duty is not a game for the single player gentleman.
