Call Of Duty: Ghosts - 4 Reasons Why The Franchise Is Over
4. The Story Problems
To say the Call of Duty craze is over really depends on how you play COD, to a certain extent. If you play Call of Duty for the story arc, then one hundred percent its over.
Call of Duty 4 showcased a campaign that was imaginative, exhilarating and not traipsing round Normandy circa 1944. The problem was, Call of Duty 4 felt like its own standalone game, not the beginning of a three part saga, therefore, when Call of Duty 4 smashed the market as the iceberg did the Titanic, Infinity Ward probably had no idea what to do with themselves.
With each next instalment the story became more convoluted than a Doctor Who episode played backwards. Trying to distribute a plot that was only made for one game is like trying to share a relatively small honey pot with two massive brown bears. Youre going to get your face torn off and the bears are going to go hungry.
Although Call of Duty: Ghosts has started its own three part storyline, it suffers and will suffer from the same issues that plagued Modern Warfare, only this time gamers have wised up to the fact that Call of Duty is not a game for the single player gentleman.
