19. That Creepy 9/11 Reference
The cornerstone event that kickstarts Infinite Warfare's campaign is the Settlement Defense Front's terrorist attack at Geneva's annual Fleet Week Parade.
During the chaos, spaceships are rendered useless and crash into buildings, in one instance creating a gigantic wall of smoke and debris that flies forcefully into the player.
The aftermath is an incredibly eerie sight as the player and robot buddy Ethan walk through the foggy remains looking for survivors. It will almost instantly conjure up 9/11 comparisons to anyone over the age of about 20, with Infinity Ward quite clearly drawing an intentional parallel between this catastrophe and the real-life one.
It's not offensive or anything, just rather unsettling.
