Call Of Duty: Ranking Every Game Mode From Worst To Best
17. Blitz
Anybody that has ever served time in a British school will be familiar with the playground game known as bulldog, which tasks one team of players with running from one safe zone to another without being tagged or tackled.
Ghosts implemented a twist on this formula with Blitz, which swaps out the tags and tackles for guns. Each team is simultaneously tasked with running to a specific point of the map to earn points. This presents a tactical dilemma, as players must decide whether to make a mad dash for the target or assume that every member of the opposing team will be doing this and take up a defensive position instead.
Successful runs result in the scorer being teleported back to their own spawn, which can result in double doses of heroics when this happens just in time to thwart an opponent that is through on their goal.
Blitz hasn't made a return to the series since and given the widespread apathy towards Ghosts many players will have never played it given that it didn't make its debut until six months after the game's original release.
On a side note, more playground classics should be used as inspiration for shooters. I'm all for a take on 'cops and robbers', personally...
