Coming up on a remarkable 24 years of age, the PlayStation brand is easily responsible for millions of us investing billions of coin into all manner of franchises, consoles, characters and worlds. From day one, the PS1's 3D graphics were a real head-turner, building a runaway sense of momentum that carried into the PS2 becoming the best-selling console of all time.
Though you can look to the likes of Nintendo and Sega as stalwarts of the industry beforehand, Sony entering the ring did a lot to make gaming mainstream. Characters like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon became household names - not to mention the very logo itself is incredibly recognisable; quickly ending up on many peoples' skin as a showing of pure devotion and support.
In 2018, Sony aren't showing any signs of slowing down. The PS4's success mimics that of both the PS1 and PS2, as though the PS3 was a bit of a misstep in terms of pricing and marketing, PlayStation as a cultural touchstone has remained solid as ever.
