These days, most people carry around a computer capable of playing every arcade game ever made, but back in the 1970s through '80s, the only place you could play some of the most popular games in the world was at your local arcade.

Pumping quarters into arcade machines was about the only way people could play the likes of Pac-Man or Galaga. While the consoles at the time attempted to emulate ports of some of the more popular games, anyone who played Pac-Man on the Atari 2600 can attest that the hardware simply didn't live up to the real thing.

The games that took the most quarters from 1978 to about 1989 didn't just do well when they first came out; many continue to influence the games being released today. Not only can their influence be seen in modern titles, but most of the games that came out during that time continue to release sequels, and people are playing them.

If you remember pushing quarters into coin slots, odds are, you will be able to identify many of the games on this list. Each question exhibits a single screenshot, so you'll have to pay close attention if you hope to score 100% on this quiz!
