Complete History Of WWE Video Games - Part 4 (2005-2013)

Smackdown vs Raw 2010 (2009) All PS, DS, Wii, 360

smackdown vs raw 2010 This was the last game to feature ECW in the title and the first to have Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and returns for Christian and Goldust. It's biggest new addition was the Story Designer mode which lets fans finally create their own storylines from a number of available scenarios. It was again another case of them catering to the fans requests as they had been asking for such a mode for years. Now players didn't just have to play the stories in career mode but could also create their own. It had a few teething problems and was a bit tricky to get to grips with at first, but came with over 100 preset animations and 25 locations which let you add any wrestler from the game and include text to explain storylines and use as dialogue. For the first time superstars could be edited but only their colour scheme and not full attire like most people wanted. That wouldn't be added to the game until WWE2K14. Create a Finisher mode added top rope moves and Create a Wrestler added a paint tool that let you design any logo you wanted and apply to your superstars. Again, a feature that fans had wanted for years but was pretty intricate, hard to control and tough to get used to. Additionally, attire was now rendered in 3D finally rather than looking just painted onto the wrestlers. It also allowed for up to 3 alternate attires on top of the first one you create. Most importantly users could now upload and share their created content with players online, which was an option that was asked for, for a long time. This meant that if you weren't particularly great at creating superstars, you could download from those who could. There had always been a huge community of great creators out there and this finally let you take advantage of their skills. Unfortunately the THQ servers were poor, making downloading these creations sometimes a nightmare. Online matches were also destroyed by these servers, making getting a fair match almost an impossibility most times. A new match type was Championship Scramble, featuring a number of stars squaring off against each other with the last pinfall becoming WWE Champion. Road to Wrestlemania returned with six stories and for the first time had a Diva focused story in which you could control Mickie James. It also added a story set aside specifically for Created Wrestlers.
