Crash Bandicoot: Ranking Every Game From Worst To Best

2. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

The penultimate entry only by pure coincidence, happens to be the second chronological entry into the Crash canon.

It also happens to be a ubiquitous masterpiece that defines every facet of what makes a Crash Bandicoot game linger on the mind over 20 years later. Not only did it up the ante, it - to answer the tagline - catapulted its star into a cultural cornerstone.

These are so many segments that coalesce together, with not a single one being anything less than a substantial improvement. Excluding the uncannily odd promotional material, that is.

The characters' personalities, animations and move sets are elevated, not to mentioned the debut appearance of Crash's sister Coco. A refreshing roster of bosses proves that the creativity was flowing alongside the most influential two aspects that still define Crash today. The variety and the warp zone are both present and accounted for.

Not only did the levels become more diverse, now incorporating a range of locations, times and climates, but it can't be undermined how pivotal the addition of vehicular based mechanics and the trademark crystals were!

But, as they say, there is always room for improvement!
