Crysis 3: 10 Reasons It's Awesome

8. Varied Environments

If there's something I didn't like about the first two Crysis games, it's that the environments got a bit samey, and by the end, I was a little bored. The first game relied mostly on jungle environments (albeit with some snow-kissed locales near the end), while the second was almost exclusively concrete, and these locations felt entirely played out by game's end. Though Crysis 3 is similarly set in New York, Crytek have come up with a novel way to keep things fresh, by having the city be encased in a giant Nanodome, courtesy of the C.E.L.L. organisation. This dome creates a rainforest environment, complete with swamps, bodies of water and giant trees, forcing Prophet to traverse the so-called Seven Wonders, meaning that each mission has its own distinct look and feel. Hopefully Crytek will find another way to innovate even further with the inevitable Crysis 4; hopefully no more jungles, concrete or otherwise, please.
