Crysis 3: 10 Reasons It's Awesome

2. Sprinting No Longer Eats Up Nanosuit Energy

The joy that spread across my face when I first started sprinting in Crysis 3 was like a kid at Christmas. Why, you ask? Crytek have fixed one annoying gameplay mechanic that proved plenty frustrating in the previous two games, and ensured that I died a lot more than I would have liked. In previous games, sprinting activates your Nanosuit's Speed Mode, which eats into your energy, meaning that you can run to an enemy camp, low on energy (and therefore armour), and then get promptly picked off by the waiting bad guys once it all ran out. Thankfully, for Crysis 3 this dumb mechanic has been abandoned, meaning that you can just sprint for the Hell of it now. This benefits the game in other ways, as it has allowed Crytek to create far more open environments which require a lot of sprinting. Proof that the small choices really do matter, this is an instance of Crytek really thinking about things and listening to what fans want.
