CTR: Nitro-Fueled Hands-On - 7 Ups & 2 Downs
1. Online Netcode Feels Solid
For the build I was given, we were locked into playing a variety of races across four specific tracks: Papu's Temple and Sewer Speedway from CTR, then Electron Avenue and Clockwork Wumpa from Crash Nitro Kart.
Now granted, we were in a controlled environment in terms of signal strength, but just being able to play Crash Team Racing online felt fantastic. Overtaking, deploying a variety of weapons, exploring shortcuts and tearing through chicanes at breakneck speed all felt sublime, with no lag getting in the way.
If this is the netcode Beenox have developed, it should easily be scaleable for launch numbers and beyond.
