Cyberpunk 2077: 10 Easter Eggs, Secrets & References You Must See
7. Pondsmith Street
Long before Cyberpunk 2077 was even a concept in an elevator pitch, the property can trace its routes all the way back to 1988. Back when tabletop games were really starting to gain popularity, Mike Pondsmith came up with the idea of a more futuristic title and laid the groundwork for development efforts to come.
Pondsmith published the game through R. Talsorian Games and aimed to represent the genre that had been popularised by the likes of Blade Runner and other properties. The game would end up releasing four times with the most recent edition, Cyberpunk 2020, serving as a prequel to CD Projekt Red's own project.
As the creator of the Cyberpunk universe, it was only fitting that Mike Pondsmith receive a shoutout in the game. In Japantown you'll find a street named after him. Once again, this in the game's first act; the player needs only take a glance up at the street names while driving around. The name can be found hanging on a large red sign.
While tabletop games aren't quite as popular as video games three decades on, CD Projekt still paid a tribute to the individual who inspired their development efforts. It's a simple yet effective easter egg.
