Dark Souls 2: The 10 Most Ridiculous Ways We All Died

2. Arr, Treasure!

Humble treasure chests often don't fight back. They're generally just there, handily unopened, waiting to be plundered. For most of Dark Souls, this is true. But then you get into Sen's Fortress, and, all of a sudden, the chests are starting to get their own back after you've stolen the life-giving items from their chest brethren in the rest of Lordran. I remember the first time I found a mimic in Dark Souls. Quite casually I sauntered up to the chest at the bottom of the Fortress, confident that I'd get something awesome for my efforts. Then I tried to open it, and, as I only had a mere sliver of health left, the mimic starting munching on my head and killed me pretty much instantly. This then led to me not trusting any chest whatsoever in the game and attacking them first to discover if it was real or not. If you're skilled, you can actually tell the difference between a mimic and a chest at a glance. I'm not though, and I'm still attacking every chest I find in Dark Souls 2, just in case. I'm sure there's probably some kind of evil scheme in place to counteract this tactic though!
