Sony's latest Playstation 4 exclusive, Days Gone, is finally out in the wild, and the response from both fans and critics has been... interesting.

The general consensus seems to be that it isn't another God of War or Horizon: Zero Dawn, but opinions ranged wildly from disappointing 6/10s to near-perfect 9s. Still, while critics continue to be divided, the open-world title has been a hit with players, who collectively ensured it beat Mortal Kombat 11 to claim the number one spot of the UK physical sales chart.

It's easy to see why as well: Days Gone is ridiculously playable.

The survival loop of gearing up from a camp, going out in the wild and seeing what you can find - before returning with your wares - is compelling whether you're two or 20 hours in. It also helps that the game is challenging as well; this post-apocalyptic version of Oregon is out to kill you, and it takes genuine skill and planning to get through encounters without becoming completely overwhelmed by a horde of enemies.

There's plenty of trial-and-error that comes with getting the hang of its systems, especially vehicle exploration and combat is so much of what Sony Bend relies on. Fortunately for you, as always we have a bunch of handy tips and tricks that will make the Freaker-infested wasteland that little bit less intimidating.
