An obvious comparison, but a distinct one, as Dead Rising has repeatedly ushered in the same "Holy sh*t!" reaction to an army of the undead as that of George A. Romero's 1978 classic, Dawn of the Dead.

A metaphorical depiction of consumerism at its most primal, both the 2006 original and now Dead Rising 4 put players slap-bang in the middle of a thriving mall full of merchandise, shops and kiosks to interact with.

Hopefully the comparison with our own insatiable need for licensed products isn't lost on players. As Dead Rising 4 stocks its recreation of the Willamette Mall with tons of zombie-influenced merch, there are plenty of on-the-nose examples of where Romero's work left off, and Capcom stepped in.
