It's no secret that Death Stranding is very much concerned with the state of the world today, and particularly the U.S., with the game's world depicting an America torn apart by a failure of communication, terrorism and tyranny in various forms.

The game's real world allusions are best embodied, however, by the character of Die-Hardman, who makes numerous references over the course of the game to "making America whole again."

This is obviously just one word removed from Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan, and the fact that the game also features the first-ever female American President when Hillary Clinton recently came so close is surely no coincidence.
