2. Practice Your Parrying

You'd be right in saying it's a lot easier to hold down block than parry an enemy's attack, but this is Demon's Souls we're talking about here, which is not for the feint of heart. Since parrying an enemy will open them up to a visceral attack, this strategy can be used to save time and give you a moment of relaxation, as the visceral animation also causes you to be invulnerable for a short period of time.

The best thing you could do is start practicing your parrying from the very beginning though, where enemies are a bit less challenging and messing up doesn't result in your immediate death. As scary as this may seem at first, practice makes perfect, and you'll slowly but surely get a grasp on the timing required to do so. Until then, stock up on grass and concentrate on your enemy's attacks. You're sure to be an expert in no time.
