Destiny: 17 Easter Eggs & References You Need To Know

4. Marathon 2 Reference

With Bungie referencing so many other great movies and video games, why not reference some of their own previous work as well? And this doesn't mean Halo, Oni or even Myth: this goes back to 1995 with Bungie's Marathon 2. One of the few exotic ships available in Destiny so far is the Manus Celer Dei (which is Latin for the Swift Hand of God), which is without question a direct reference to the Jjaro dreadnought of the same name from Marathon 2. As if that wasn't cool enough, the description of the Destiny ship is itself in Latin, reading, "NON FACETE NOBIS CALCITRARE VESTRVM PERIN†VM", which means, "Don't make us kick your a**". Even cooler still, this Latin phrase is Bungie's corporate motto.
