Devil May Cry: Demo Impressions

3. Story

I know it's only a demo but some details can finally be confirmed. Series regular Vergil, while not a playable character, will be an integral part of the story. 'The Order' seem to be a group not unlike 'Anonymous' and are portrayed as terrorists, with Dante being the most dangerous. The majority of the game will take place in Limbo. After all the criticism, it's good to see Ninja Theory have stuck to their vision. I loved the older games but it was time for a change to the formula and it's an interesting twist to say the least. The story is set up nicely at the end of the demo and I'm sure Dante will be given plenty of heroic set pieces in the full game. The source material is good and it will be interesting to see just how different things are in this parallel universe. Overall, I'm happy with this new direction. The game is classic DmC back to it's roots with a few small issues such as the auto lock-on and sometimes silly dialogue. I was skeptical when Capcom announced Ninja Theory would be developing such a successful series but having played the demo, I'm glad they did. The combat is excellent, the platforming, while simple, is fun and I think even die hard fans will be impressed. DmC is out now on the Xbox Marketplace and PSN.
