Don't Play The Witcher 3's Hearts Of Stone DLC On New Game Plus

Patch 1.10 alongside the new DLC has resulted in a glitch that takes many items away.

After months of accolades, awards and praise being heaped CD Projekt RED's way for the phenomenal The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, they've released the first of two sizeable expansion packs, Hearts of Stone, for players to experience regardless of where they are in the main story. However, gamers who have completed Wild Hunt and started a new save over (with the patched-in New Game Plus mode that lets you carry over all your items and weapons into a new game) are discovering a crippling bug that emerges from a couple of key (yet avoidable) factors. It appears - on PS4 at least - that booting up your NG+ save with the new 1.10 patch installed will result in many crafted items and past DLC content simply not appearing - meaning if you've not prepared a backup save from your original playthrough, things like the Ursine Armour Set or any specialist finds will be gone until the developers can work on a fix. Whilst this is not related specifically to Hearts of Stone, it's also worth pointing out that the new DLC is predicated on Geralt being around level 30 - where he should be at the end of a standard playthrough. Starting New Game Plus with Hearts of Stone installed will auto-level its missions to over 60 to compensate - essentially meaning you'd have to go through the entire game again to avoid being killed instantly by anything you come across. It's far better to boot up an older save and access HoS through there, so here's hoping you kept an original file - denoted through the thumbnail as not having a small 'plus' in the corner - otherwise it's a long road ahead until you're appropriately levelled for the new content. How have you found The Witcher 3 and its free DLC in general? Let us know in the comments!
