7. The Praetor Suit - Doomguy's Armour

For the first time in DOOM history, we've got more effort than ever being put into framing your exploits and the world around you. There are scientific expeditions, reasons why the demons range from carrying shields to having propane tanks sticking out their heads - and your 'new' Praetor Armour, now given context in-world as an ancient suit passed down across eons.

In our world, Praetor was a title given out in Ancient Rome to all sorts of warrior-figures and army generals. It seemed to symbolise a call to arms, a rallying of troops and a beholder of authority.

The meaning in DOOM's lore plays more into you as the embodiment of pure carnage, which when you factor in the amount of law-bending and custom rulesets the ancient Praetors would uphold, is more than apt.
