A very standard feature that everyone from Far Cry to Halo has seen in varying permutations, now DOOM is back, it's brought it's own map editor too.
While it's dependant on you choosing from a handful of templates you can then build on top of, it allows fans to create content that will give DOOM far more longevity overall.
It's a long way away from Halo's ace Forge mode, but that's also not the point. Id Software have put together their own cavalcade of fun maps and expanses for you to blow each other apart in, and its this base toolset that they want you to go forward and experiment with.
