E3 2012: Assassin's Creed 3 Demo Explores The Frontier

Ubisoft unleashes Connor into the wild with brand new gameplay footage directly from E3!

Far Cry 3, Rayman: Legends, and their brand new IP, Watch Dogs. Arguably the company has provided one of the best press conferences this year. The demo for Assassin's Creed 3 could easily provide the icing on the cake for many fans of the series. Connor provided an impressive display of the bold new direction for the franchise as he took the stage. Right from the start of the demo, Assassin's Creed 3 makes you feel like you a part of the wild. It immerses you into the expertly crafted Frontier that the development team has created. Watching Connor move through the trees fluidly and dynamically is an impressive feat. As Connor drops to the ground he hunts down a deer, and quickly begins to skin it. Growls emit from the forest, as Connor realizes a wolf pack is lying in wait. Now, he has become the hunted. Connor quickly fires a few rounds scaring them away. Another wolf leaps for his throat, but Connor gracefully dodges, countering to eliminate the lone wolf. Our first glimpse into the hunting mechanic provides the hope that bigger prey is waiting to be hunted, and taken down with beautiful execution. I'm looking at you grizzly bears. Pushing through the dense, snow covered forest, Connor finds himself in local camp with soldiers in dire need of supplies. These camps will surely be scattered throughout the Frontier. These will certainly play a large role in providing players with side-quests and providing a greater incentive to explore the world of Assassin's Creed 3. Speaking to a high ranking officer in the camp, Connor learns that he must sneak into a nearby fort and eliminate the Templar awaiting his execution inside. What follows is a beautiful display of the drastic improvements being made to the franchise, and a graceful execution of Connor's deadly assassin heritage. http://youtu.be/gZrklEy9ohQ
