6. PlayStation Mobile Never Caught On
PlayStation Mobile is a service that allowed developers to create content that would run not only on PSVita and PlayStation TV, but also on mobile devices - provided they met the required specifications.
Fully launched in 2012, it struggled to take off. Sony announced a year later that the development costs would be free to attract a wider range of games developers to the platform.
In 2014, the latest version of the service was aimed solely at PSVita and had PlayStation TV as an optional system. The service closed down in September 2015.
When you're going against giants like Apple and Nintendo, you'd better bring your A-game. A new PSP could open up new opportunities for cross-play with current Xperia mobile phones or allow for Android games playable straight to a new PSP with a dedicated online store. The PSVita had a rear touch screen and the Dual Shock 4 has a front-facing touchpad - so let's have a new PSP with front touch screen!
