7. A Sequel To Nier: Automata Announced

Kingdom Hearts 3

Nier: Automata was a hugely unprecedented success for Square Enix, and it seems like the universe was only just beginning.

A sequel to Automata could really explore many different things. It could continue the story of 2B, but it seems likely that it will instead focus on completely different characters and areas, similarly to how the first game in the series is completely different from the second.

Considering how well Automata performed and how it quickly became a cult classic, Square have almost definitely started work on a sequel. The universe is so rich that it really allows for several more installments, and there's no doubt that fans would be happy to see it return.

As long as Yoko Taro is on board, so are we. The thing that really sets Nier: Automata and any other game that he develops is the amount of heart he puts into it. They may be quirky, but that's what makes them so great.
