Microsoft had a damn fine showcase with a relentless string of gameplay trailers, as well as them revealing their three tentpole franchises (Halo, Gears Of War, and Forza) were all making a welcome return to the console. So much to take in, with most feeling happily exhausted by its tail-end.

As Phil Spencer wrapped up the conference in cheerful style, suddenly the lights jittered and abruptly cut him off - what was going on? Another trademark E3 live malfunction?

The main screen jumps alive with a retro style start-up screen before taking us through an unknown presence hacking the presentation - what extra reveal could Microsoft still have left up their sleeve?

It turned out to be CD Project Red’s much-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, with it finally receiving a showcase trailer. It’s not an Xbox exclusive or anything but it made for a great final capper and fun piece of showmanship in this stellar showcase.
