Did anybody expect a followup to RAGE?!

2011's apocalyptic open-world FPS was the first new IP from iD Software since 2007's Orcs & Elves (or before than, 1996's Quake). Aiming to do for that generation's shooter space what their various other FPSs did across prior decades, RAGE was a bizarre misfire, having serviceable and fun enough mechanics... but nothing in the way of a memorable world or characters.

Hopefully with a sequel - and the fact they hit a demonstrably badass home run with 2016's immaculate DOOM reboot - RAGE can begin to sit more comfortably alongside the likes of Quake, Wolfenstein and DOOM itself.
