E3 2018: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From Nintendo's Direct
Downs...
3. No Metroid Prime 4
Aside from the inevitable appearance of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it was widely expected that Metroid Prime 4 would be heavily featured during Nintendo's Direct.
After fans were placated with a mere logo drop confirming the game at last year's E3, it really felt like the right time this year to show off some actual gameplay. Sadly, the long-awaited sequel was nowhere to be seen.
Nintendo's Bill Trinen was asked about Metroid Prime 4's absence following the Direct and stated, "I think the main thing is, as people have probably realised by now – we show things when we think we’re ready to show them. And when we think we’re ready to show Metroid Prime, we’ll show Metroid Prime."
Clearly the game's still quite a while from release, but at least Nintendo can just organise another Direct when they feel like it's ready to be revealed, which will hopefully be some time over the next few months. Fingers crossed.
