E3 2018: 5 Ups & 5 Downs From Bethesda's Conference
1. Starfield Is Officially Confirmed For Next-Gen Platforms
It's been literally years since trademark filings revealed that Bethesda was working on a new IP called Starfield, and after no-showing last year's E3 conference, the game finally made its debut at the tail-end of their show this year.
Granted, we only saw a logo and the briefest glimpse of space, but it was a relief simply to see the game officially confirmed, as well as the fact that it is indeed a console game and not a mobile title as rumours had suggested.
Most intriguing, though, is Todd Howard's reveal that the game will be released on next-gen consoles, meaning it won't arrive until 2020 at the very earliest (more likely 2021).
Still, it's a landmark moment to hear a guaranteed PS5/Nextbox game announced, even if there's still the possibility it'll get a cross-platform release on current consoles also.
Starfield is real, folks, but sadly we probably won't hear much more about it or see any actual gameplay for quite some time.
