E3 2018: 8 Ups & 5 Downs From Sony's Conference
1. The Lack Of Major PSVR Announcements
Though at last year's E3 Sony showed off surprisingly strong support for PSVR, this year things were a little different, and honestly a bit worrying.
Sony announced just five PSVR games during E3, three of them in pre-conference announcements (Tetris Effect, Ghost Giant and the long-awaited Beat Saber), while the show itself only saw reveals for Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland's new game Trover Saves the Universe and FromSoftware's first VR game, Déraciné.
With Sony recently stating that VR growth was "below expectation", the total lack of significant, AAA VR titles on offer was incredibly disappointing, and perhaps suggests that the platform's going to largely subsist on smaller indie titles and "experiences" for the remainder of its tenure.
What they showed off looked fun, sure, but where's the investment in large-scale, big-budget games from recognisable brands that fans have been expecting?
Though Sony's conference wasn't the greatest, it still offered up its share of great moments. So, here's everything Sony got right...
