E3 2019: 12 Insane Announcements That Could Happen

10. Ubisoft Making A New Nintendo Exclusive

Ubisoft/Nintendo

A few years back, Ubisoft and Nintendo surprised us with a collaboration announcement. Of course, that might not seem so weird now that Nintendo is playing ball with everyone, but coming out of the Wii U generation, Nintendo having exclusives with other publishers again seemed nigh on impossible.

The collaboration gave us Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, a surprisingly deep and fun turn-based strategy game in the vein of an XCOM title. Despite being initially ridiculed for being a "kids game", Kingdom Battle reviewed well and sold even better.

The studios then collaborated on Starlink: Battle For Atlas, which was a commercial and critical dud, but again proved the two sides' willingness to work together. Since then we've seen Assassin's Creed III come to the platform, albeit as a rather poor port.

Still, it's inevitable that the two companies will want to make another Nintendo Switch exclusive. A Kingdom Battle sequel is likely already in the works, but what about something else? Perhaps a new Star Fox game? A new F-Zero? A Donkey Kong/Rayman title? A brand new IP?

If nothing else, I'd put money on the Rabbids appearing in the next Mario Kart.
