E3 2019: 20 Huge Video Game Announcements You Need To Know
16. Xbox Game Pass Is Now Live For PC
The backbone of Microsoft's E3 conference was unquestionably their Xbox Game Pass subscription service, which was unlocked for PC users in open beta a few hours before the conference took place.
With 100 games available from day one, including Metro Exodus, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Sunset Overdrive and Ori and the Blind Forest, along with every first-party Microsoft game set to release day-and-date on the service (including Gears 5 and Halo Infinite), it's a remarkable improvement upon the previously scant Play Anywhere initiative for PC gamers.
While Game Pass for PC costs a low $9.99 per month (or just $4.99 during the beta period), Microsoft also announced the long-rumoured Game Pass Ultimate, which would roll Game Pass for both Xbox and PC into one single sub, complete with Xbox Live Gold, for just $14.99 a month.
Given the absurd amount of potential Game Pass has to totally re-shape the industry, this was an extremely compelling statement of intent from Microsoft.
And though the PC service certainly has its early bugs - it is in beta, after all - it's tough to argue with what you're getting for the price.
