E3 2021: 20 Huge Video Game Announcements You Need To Know

14. The Outer Worlds 2 Is Happening

Final Fantasy
Obsidian

One of the most agreeably left-field reveals this year was the surprise announcement that a sequel to Obsidian's much-loved RPG The Outer Worlds is now in development.

The hilariously tongue-in-cheek teaser trailer mocked the fact that they clearly didn't have anything to share in the way of gameplay footage, making fun of typically substance-free CGI cinematic trailers.

In a statement alongside the trailer, Obsidian confirmed the game will take place in a new solar system and focus on a new crew, though hopes to retain the same feel as the original game.

Though the teaser didn't mention even a tentative release date - we're assuming 2023, then - it did confirm that the game will be releasing for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and better yet, will be on Xbox Game Pass day one.
