E3 2021: 20 Huge Video Game Announcements You Need To Know
13. Death Stranding: Director's Cut Is Coming For PS5
Though Hideo Kojima fans hoping he would reveal a brand new game during E3 - either a Death Stranding sequel or an entirely new IP - were sadly out of luck, the developer did confirm that a director's cut of Death Stranding is in the works.
The amusingly peculiar cinematic teaser showed Norman Reedus' protagonist Sam Porter Bridges infiltrating a well-guarded warehouse, picking up one of Fragile's cardboard boxes containing a ton of oranges - The Orange Box, get it? - and trying to hide himself inside, Solid Snake-style.
The director's cut is currently only confirmed for a PS5 release, though it wouldn't be surprising to see the refinements come to PC eventually, perhaps after a period of exclusivity.
Though full details are apparently still a few weeks away, it doesn't seem likely the director's cut will be a free upgrade for existing owners of the PS4 version given the way it was presented here.
