E3: Quick Sony Press Conference Wrap Up

E3 Sony press conference review.

The Sony press conference was a mixed bag, it had some very big highs and some very long low points. Lets start off with the good, Sony started off by debuting the first ever look at Quantic Dream's new game Beyond-Two Souls. The game will star Ellen Page as the main character Jodie Holmes, and the game will follow Jodie through 15 years of her life. The game is much more sci-fi or supernatural than Quantic Dream's last game Heavy Rain but I have to say it looks amazing. Judge for yourself, here is the official first trailer for Beyond Two Souls: http://youtu.be/klG8BGQLhQ4 Next Sony went on to talk about PlayStation All Star Battle Royale; first and foremost the game will be coming to PlayStation Vita as well as PS3. The other big news surrounding the game is that two new characters have been announced: Nathan Drake and Big Daddy (from BioShock). Here is the gameplay trailer: http://youtu.be/3bCY6VOtfTI Next Sony showed off two of the games Ubisoft had demoed earlier in the day, Assassin's Creed 3 and Far Cry 3. Both games will be getting Sony exclusive DLC, Assassin's Creed 3 DLC will be available with a PS3-Assassin's Creed 3 bundle; no word on whether the DLC will be available outside the bundle. Far Cry 3 will also be getting some Sony exclusive DLC, but what that is we don't know at this time; not to mention that during the press conference Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 3 would have 4 player co-op. Here is the new footage from Assassin's Creed 3 http://youtu.be/TpBL-g9-Ss4 Here is the Far Cry 3 4 player Co-Op demo: http://youtu.be/-aOSdza1YMU Then Sony demoed what was probably the low point of the show, the Sony Wonderbook game. It is basically a kids game where you use the PlayStation Move and Eye together with a digital book that will apparently read the book on your television screen as you play along with the Sony Move. The game is very imaginative but the demo went on for way to long and kid friendly games tend not to go over very well during Here is the trailer: http://youtu.be/Gnns8lkyPYw Then Sony moved on to the fun stuff, a gameplay trailer of God of War: Ascension which looks featured a lot of blood and killing like you would expect. It featured Kratos ripping a giant elephants' skull open and ended with him going after a kraken. In addition, a release date for the game was announced, March 12, 2013. Here is the demo: http://youtu.be/j1QOCbAoRts Finally, Sony demoed the amazing Last of Us from Naughty Dog; the gameplay looks more brutal than I even imagined it would be. For a more in depth look at the trailer you can go here. However, there was some bad news about the game, no release date was given during the E3 press conference. This leads me to believe that the game will likely not be out until early 2013; but even worse with early 2013 being so front loaded I have a feeling Sony may save this game to be released late 2013 where they would normally release an Uncharted game. For those of you who want to just see the trailer here you go: http://youtu.be/8ZYkj0glnqs All in all I thought that Sony had the second best E3 press conference of the day; Ubisoft being the winner of day one and Microsoft and EA falling behind. Honestly some very good games were shown today, the only problem being we probably won't be able to play many of them until next year.
