EA Closing Game Servers

EA announced today that they will be shutting down servers for multiplayer games that apparently have low traffic or sports titles that will have new iterations coming out in the near future. Some of the bigger games servers being shut down are Army of Two for both Xbox 360 and PS3, Skate Xbox 360 and PS3, and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for Xbox 360. In addition, many older sports titles will also have their servers shut down like Madden NFL 2010. The shutting down of these multiplayer services is one of the reasons why I argue in my PSN Pass article that multiplayer games are not the biggest pusher of used titles. The older a game gets the smaller the online community it has, though there are exceptions for games like Call of Duty and Halo series. So why EA try to force their customers to use pass codes without data showing they loose multiplayer money on used game sales is beyond me. Do any of you still play these games online or have you long since moved on from these games?
