EA Sports UFC: 10 Things We Learned After Hands-On Time With The Game

5. Gameplay

From the numerous fights we had during the Producer tour we were not only able to get a good feel for the game but also to improve our skills immensely. EA have done a stellar job of encapsulating the essence of mixed martial arts, making all of the styles in the fight-game equally well rewarded. Looking to try and sink in an arm-bar? The game€™s submission controls (which are predominantly handled through a mini-game a la the THQ UFC series) are highly intuitive and exquisitely animated. Want to slam a guy so hard the Octagon shakes? Landing a big takedown is extremely well handled, sending a reverberating vibration through the controller and you can even knock someone out directly from a big-slam like Matt Hughes on Carlos Newton. Alternatively, if you€™re more of a meat-and-potatoes stand-up fighter EA€™s UFC has you covered, with all major schools of striking like boxing, muay thai and karate.
