EA Sports UFC Demo: 10 Broken Things EA Must Fix Before Release

9. No Feints

We have seen feints used effectively in both EA MMA and the THQ series, forming an intrinsic part of the striking aspect of the gameplay. Feints can be used either to bait an opponent to create an opening, make them fearful of your offensive output without expending energy or to cancel a strike you weren€™t satisfied with or have thrown in error. Knowing how essential feints are in the fight business, it comes as a huge shock that they are completely absent from EA€™s new UFC title. The developers have gone through such lengths to get the details spot on with small visual flourishes but have missed out a huge aspect of every striking discipline in MMA. Fighters like Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida and José Aldo €“ all featured in the game €“ have relied heavily on throwing feints throughout their whole careers: perhaps rather than focusing on capturing every blemish, hair and freckle on a fighter€™s face, EA would have been better served perfecting the gameplay.
