7. Visual Detail
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyz4o8dua8E#t=44 Many of those who will be buying EA Sports UFC will be diehard fans of the sport. The obvious disadvantage to this is that they will be likely to notice every tiny mistake in the games presentation. Unfortunately for EA, that has already happened. Some fans of the sport have noticed that the shorts the fighters are wearing differ from the ones they normally wear in real life. The stand out here is Vitor Belfort who is well known for his tight red shorts with the Sky sponsorship. The images of Vitor we have seen from the game show him in white shorts with the wrong sponsors. This isnt an isolated incident either several of the fighters have been noted for wearing ring attire inconsistent with their real-life counterparts. Granted the two characters in the demo are flawlessly presented, but you would expect this of the games two front cover fighters. Something else which makes us raise an eyebrow is the cornermen. When fighters are being introduced, the cornermen seem to have one short animation which is looped. For certain people this is just a cheer so it doesnt look too out of place but Mike Dolces animation gets pretty awkward after a while. He bashes on the side of the cage then points at the fighter over and over and over and over again. It just gets quite jarring when the rest of the game looks so gorgeous and authentic. Indeed, despite the niggles we have expressed here, the games visual design powered by the Ignite engine is one of its biggest selling-points.
