The Dark Moon Greatsword is a greatsword (obviously), that is a staple weapon in all From Software games. With a unique skill that enhances magic attack power and imbues the blade with frostbite build-up its hard not to see why this sword is a fan favourite.

The effects of the blade are triggered by holding up the sword in the light of the dark moon, pretty cool right? Charging the sword's attacks also release a burst of moonbeams which combine with frostbite to create a truly deadly weapon. The sword can also be upgraded using Somber Smithing Stones leading to powerful magical damage.

The sword can be obtained after completing the 'Ranni The Witch' questline. Ranni first introduces herself as Renna but later reveals her real identity when asking for the player's help. Completion of the complex questline means defeating the powerful Astel, Naturalborn of the Void and obtaining the Dark Moon Ring.

After giving Ranni the ring (and other dialogue, no spoilers here!) the player will find the Dark Moon Greatsword.
